I learned that you can make a sci-fi film that is satisfying overseas. European people have everything in check. I'd make every sci-fi film in Europe. They only work 14 hours a day. After that, it's overtime.
Everything is becoming science fiction. From the margins of an almost invisible literature has sprung the intact reality of the 20th century.
The possibilities in sci-fi are wonderful. The subject is bigger than everything we know.
Everybody wants blockbusters. I like to see a few pictures now and then that have to do with people and have relationships, and that's what I want to do films about. I don't want to see these sci-fi movies, and I don't want to do one of those. I don't understand it.
They shaved my head, eyebrows. This is not a sci-fi picture. It's not a fantasy picture. You're dealing with something that's supposed to be in reality. But we had a genius makeup artist.
He who controls the spice controls the universe.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
These Are Not The Droids You Are Looking For.
If we can't write diversity into sci-fi, then what's the point? You don't create new worlds to give them all the same limits of the old ones.
I have been a soreheaded occupant of a file drawer labeled "Science Fiction" ... and I would like out, particularly since so many serious critics regularly mistake the drawer for a urinal.
Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.
No! Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try.
Sci-fi nerds are respectful, honorable. You can trust them.
Stargate by far is the top of the pile when it comes to Sci-Fi. The quality is great. They have really good writers, production design, lighting, wardrobe.
I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.
Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic.
The real universe is always one step beyond logic.
Sci-fi uses the images that sf - starting with H.G. Wells - made familiar: space travel, aliens, galactic wars and federations, time machines, et cetera, taking them literally, not caring if they are possible or even plausible. It has no interest in or relation to real science or technology. It's fantasy in space suits. Spectacle. Wizards with lasers. Kids with ray guns. I've written both, but I have to say I respect science fiction enough that I wince when people call it sci-fi.
A good many dramatic situations begin with screaming.
Come with me if you want to live!
I did a 'Children of the Corn' remake for Sci Fi Channel. I play the Peter Horton role from the original, and Candace McClure from 'Battlestar Galactica' is my Linda Hamilton.
I haven't been locked into just the sci-fi although I love it - mostly for the fans...It's tremendous to go out and do all these conventions and thank them for supporting the show. But it's been a mix...I mean I (also) love the warm and fuzzies (like Cedar Cove and My Best Friends' Dogs).
I wouldn't necessarily consider myself the typical sci-fi genre fan. I do have a lot of sci-fi shows that I enjoy, but I wouldn't call it my favorite genre of all.
All I ever wanted to do was be on stage, if possible acting in Shakespeare. And to be as good as I could be.
That's the best thing about being an actor. If you're in a baseball movie, you walk away knowing way more about baseball, or if you're in a sci-fi film, you learn way more about Comic-Con, and so I loved all that.
