I want to do a musical movie. Like Evita, but with good music.
In Evita I wasn't really hugely involved with it. I gave a little bit of help but they needed a bit of technical help on the movie and so some of my music people went in at the end of the movie and helped out with it.
I don't stop. It's my nature. People have to tell me to slow down. I plan on playing every role on Broadway. I want to do 'Evita.' I want to do 'Sweeney Todd' with Chris Colfer. We want to do 'Wicked.' I'll be Elphaba and he wants to play 'Guy-linda.' I want to do movies, make music. 'Glee' is only the beginning.
I would love to do Evita or Elphaba in Wicked. But I am more excited to originate a role on Broadway.
You know, once somebody knows you can sing Elphaba, it's like being able to sing Evita - people shut up about it already.
"Evita" obviously would always be very special to me because it was the first major musical that I did on stage and created in the U.K. with Hal Prince directing.
One of these days in the next 10 years, I will play 'Evita.' I don't know when or where, but I love 'Evita', especially with all my Latin and Spanish studies. It's a very demanding role but I'd love to play it.
My favorite scene that I ever filmed was singing "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" from the balcony of the Casa Rosada in Argentina [where the real Eva Peron once stood] during Evita. That was amazing. SO real and surreal. Bizarre.
