Deliberate virtue is never worth much: The virtue of feeling or habit is the thing.
One might call habit a moral friction: something that prevents the mind from gliding over things but connects it with them and makes it hard for it to free itself from them.
It is too bad if you have to do everything upon reflection and can't do anything from early habit.
